It's been a couple of months since we first learned about Minecraft Earth, the augmented reality version of Mojang's game that lets you experience the real world playscape filled with your own blocky creations. The company promised that a beta version of the game would be available this summer. Now we have a new trailer, it states that the game will launch on iOS in the next two weeks. Android will follow "soon thereafter."
After experiencing live gameplay at WWDC last month, the announcement of iOS-first is not surprising. While the new trailer offers a lot of info on how you'll play the game, interested players might want to go back to the Apple demo to get a experience of what it's like to share the virtual Minecraft world with their friends. The virtual world will overlay the real world.
To be among the first players to have access, you'll need sign to play the game for free right here (you'll need a device running at least iOS 10 or Android 7 to be able to play, according to the FAQ). Access to the game is limited because they are adjusting load to the servers. However you must be active to play. If you aren't playing for seven consecutive days, a different player will get your slot. You'll require a Microsoft or Xbox Live account to register after which once you've signed up there's nothing left to do but wait and prepare to build.
