Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Has Just Dropped - Operation Riptide

It appears that Valve was actually hinting at something for Counter-Strike Global Offensive this week. Today, Riptide was launched by the studio. It features new game modes, maps and gameplay changes as well as challenges.



It is available for download by purchasing the new operation pass on Steam, the CS:GO Operation Riptide brings some major improvements to the way you play the shooter. One of them is the new feature for private matchmaking queues. This lets you generate the code for a queue to share with pals - or with people who are part of the same Steam group to create an exclusive Premier match on Valve's servers. The new operation overview shows that you can group up teams, create teams or simply wait for the matchmaker to sort it out.



Riptide also allows players to select between two match lengths on official (competitive) CSGO servers: short (MR16), or long (MR30). Or , you can choose "no preference" if your heart is set on one of these match lengths. Team Deathmatch has also got some new options, including an added choice between "Classic Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch (first team to 100 kills wins) and Free-for-all Deathmatch (all players are enemies)".



The Demolition and Arms Race game modes have been updated with a more streamlined progression of weapons in both, as well as other tweaks that you can read about in the overview.



There will be rewards for Riptide as it goes live as in previous CS:GO games. You'll earn stars by completing weekly missions and can then spend on new agents, including "Guerrilla Warfare Terrorists, CT SEAL team 'Frogmen' and the French Gendarmerie" and also new items, four new weapon collections, and other cosmetics.



In the way of maps the fan-created, nearly Far Cry five-like map County that we wrote on earlier this year - has been added to CS:GO official matchmaking for Danger Zone mode. Basalt and Insertion II are now in the Competitive and Casual Deathmatch modes' competitive matchmaking pool, as well, while Ravine and Extraction have been added to Wingman's official matchmaking. nicisoft Grind, Mocha, Pitstop, Calavera, and Frostbite are now out of the game. There are also adjustments to Dust 2, Inferno and Ancient in Valve's patch notes.



Riptide's new gameplay features include the ability to drop grenades just like regular weapons, and an enhancement to body damage for the M4A1-S as well as an increase in the Deagle. Dual Elites have got cheaper, and vision after death has been reduced to 2.0s from 3.0s (0.5s down from 1.0s for vision by headshot).
