Media platforms like Twitter has helped to spread word about new video game releases and online gaming tournaments. Meanwhile, companies such as Xbox and PlayStation have gained thousands of followers on promoting social media news and updates to help grow their community and audience. Over time these industries have both helped and complemented each other. Many major game consoles also have profiles on social media too such as PlayStation that has over 4.7m followers on Instagram. Fans of PlayStation can easily follow them on here for new updates and news of upcoming releases. Social media can also help promote new games and discussions around them through online communities. This not only helps improve a brands’ awareness, but it also helps to get more people into gaming/interested in gaming or
searching for a particular game

According to a research, conducted at the Council on Science and Public Health, constant video-gaming may put people at a risk of photosensitive seizures, a form of epilepsy triggered by constantly flashing lights and speedily moving objects. Thus, addictive video-gaming can lead to numerous health hazards.

The consequence is that they end up believing that the real world is similar to the virtual world of the game they have been playing and hence, behave and interact in the same way as they do during gaming.
Numerous video games which are supposedly meant especially for kids have violent content wherein aspects such as aggression and revenge are rewarded. These things make a deep impact on children’s minds and they tend to judge people and society, on the whole, in similar light. In the long-run, this can turns them into aggressive and violent individuals who are often very reluctantly accepted by society.
Excessive video-gaming can thus have long-lasting psychological impact on an individual.
his is also applicable in case of adults. Excessive gaming hampers their overall performance and productivity at their workplace
adversely affect their concentration but with the passage of time, they also lack the abilities of time-management.
This happens because gaming addicts fail to balance the time they need to invest in cultivating their family/social relations and the amount of time they spend on gaming. In other words, they fail to devote quality time to their relationships in lieu of which they tend to have no family/social life left.
Added to this, the amount of money that is spend on buying new games, or newer versions of the existing ones, cannot be overlooked. This may economically affect that person as well.
Gaming has also been associated with sleep deprivation, insomnia and circadian rhythm disorders, depression, aggression, and anxiety, though more studies are needed to establish the validity and the strength of these connections. There has also been concern that exposure to the extreme violence that is commonly found in video games can desensitize teens and young adults to such violence, causing emotional problems and even leading to young people committing acts of violence.
