Minecraft Java Edition 1.19.1 is out now and it has some controversial changes, which some players aren't satisfied with.
The first major change is the addition of player reporting, in the event that they send abusive messages in chat games. You can report specific servers, and choose multiple messages to include, as well as make comments. Mojang / Microsoft moderators then will review the reports and take appropriate action. It applies to all users, even private servers. Another modification to text chat is that it links with it. It will add a note to the chat for every message that is not sent, or when it is modified by the server.
Mojang claims that people won't get banned for swearing, however, it's more focused on "hate speech" or bullying, harassment sexual solicitation or true threats to other people". It won't affect single-player games in the event that you are banned.
Naturally, there are mods to get around this, such as the No Chat Reports mod that claims to remove the signatures associated with chat messages and make them "impossible to trace and link the chat messages you send to Minecraft and, by extension, Microsoft account".
