Home News Survival Minecraft Minecrafter builds a giant Halo ring that actually spins
By Lauren Morton published 4 January 22
You'll have to modify it However, you can download it and play around with it.
A world made from cubes isn't able to make circles. However, Minecraft players are not in any way afraid to defy logic and construct amazing round structures. One brave builder went even beyond and threw away every rule in order to create the world's first rotating ring. A complete moving Halo rings with beam emitters, biomes, and a crashed Pelican. The best part is that you can download and play with the ring yourself.
The Minecraft YouTuber named Reach claims that his Halo ring was originally inspired by a model shared by a different creator. This smaller world of a ring is impressive, but commenters on the post suggested it would be even cooler If it actually worked. Reach was up to the challenge using WorldEdit and Create to create and engineer rings that actually move.
It was a major undertaking. He made use of the Clockwork Bearing blocks in the Create mod to manage the ring's movements. A single clockwork bearing attached to the ring's rim couldn't do the job, it was discovered. He explains that the entity created by Minecraft was too big to render the first time he tried to move it.
So Reach opted to split it into four sections, each with an axis bearing that rotates and an arm. Reach ended with eight bearings that were attached to the sections of the ring to form spokes. "I thought it was not gonna work," he tells me, "but my stubbornness and wanting to make something unique for YouTube and my followers was enough to get me through." After all that? Holy hell, it moves!
Planet Minecraft has the project available for download if would like to experience the beauty of a Ring-world. It requires Minecraft 1.16. https://minecraftservers.website/ Once inside, you'll manually start the wheels to get it going. However, once it's positioned on the ground, it'll continue to ticking.
It doesn't spin in a continuous manner, so you won't have to keep up with a constantly moving hamster wheel. The entire ring spins at a rate of 30 seconds. It was a good thing, as I found myself disoriented and motion sick while exploring it. It will take me a while to establish my space legs. Reach was required to lock each block in order to make the ring spin correctly, so you won’t be able build or play with mine here. It's a diorama, rather than a game world however it's still a very amazing.
Reach shares more details about his process in the YouTube video below. He explains the difficulties and the design choices he made in order to give the band an Halo appearance.
Bless the Minecraft builders. They never quit.
