In Minecraft, a shield is an item for defense that you can design and equip to protect yourself from attack. It is easy to create some protection for yourself when you first begin playing Minecraft. These shields are simple rectangles but you can modify them with unique designs and even add enchantments in some versions of Minecraft.



You will need:



A table for crafting.


Six wood planks.

How to Create the Shield

Here's the recipe for making your own shield:



Obtain six wood planks.






Obtain one iron ingot.






Open your crafting.






Your planks and iron ingot should be placed on the table for crafting. Place the iron ingot in middle of the top row. Place planks on the right, left and middle of the row at the top.






Drag the shield from the upper right box into your inventory.






Your shield is now ready for use.





How to Obtain the Components to make an Shield

To construct your shield, you'll need wood planks and iron ore. Wood planks can be made out of any type of wood. Iron ore can be found in the groundrock, or just above sea level.



How do you make wood planks?



Cut or punch trees until you have wood logs.






To build enough planks to make an effective shield, you'll only need two logs



Place your logs on your crafting table or menu.






Move planks from your upper right box into your inventory.






Planks are made in four stacks and you'll quickly create a lot of planks.





How to Locate Iron Ore and make Iron Bars

Iron ore is the most well-known type of mineral found in Minecraft It's why you'll see it all over the place. From the point where you are above sea level, look beneath the ground to find the bedrock. Iron ore may be found in veins in the underground if find a natural cave or deep ravine. Iron bars are also found in chests if iron ore has been found in a village tower, mine shaft of a stronghold, sunken ship, or stronghold.



Here's how to get iron ore, and then create an iron bar to use as your shield.



Find and mine iron ore.






Open your furnace.






Place iron ore along with an alternative fuel source like coal, charcoal, or wood into your furnace.

If you don't have a banner that you can customize, then you'll need to create one before you can personalize your shield. This is a simple process that requires only six wool and a stick for the banner. Then , you'll require a weaving loom, a banner and some dye to personalize the banner.



These guidelines are valid for every version of Minecraft, but you can only use your banner to customize your shield within the Java Edition of Minecraft.



Here's how to create your custom banner in Minecraft:



Open your crafting menu.






This pattern can be used to insert six wool or onestick.



All wool used must have the exact color.






Move the banner to your inventory from the upper right.






Open your loom.






In the loom interface , place your banner and your dye. Then, choose the appropriate option from that list.
