This week's snapshot shows us the long-awaited "flattening" which is set to completely destroy everything. Sorry. Make backups.





Changes in 17w47a




- Implemented command suggestions for item arguments and blocks
- May have broke everything


Chat Settings now have an option to switch off automatic command suggestions (defaults to on, otherwise press the tab)

- Dismantled the notion "block data" and "item data" Completely and completely


- Absolutely broke everything!


You can divide and rename almost every block and item.

- Added the ability for us to add new blocks in the future again! Hurrah!


I'm aware that there are new blocks however I would like you to emphasize that

- Fixed bug MC-122207 With the new IDs, some icons for advancements show the wrong block/item

- Fixed bug MC-122228 Opening a double (trapped) chest plays the open and close sound twice

A warning

This snapshot should be considered "extremely highly experimental". From a scale of one to 10, where 1 is experimental and 10 is stable, this is a very positive and solid negative 5.



Before you attempt to use this snapshot, back up your worlds. Don't expect worlds created in this snapshot to work in the next snapshots.





But seriously

This snapshot represents several years of internal refactoring, allowing us to have virtually unlimited block & item IDs. We are confident that everything will fail. guimods Please take backups.

Install the snapshot

Please report any and all bugs you find in Minecraft to bugs.mojang.com. If nobody is able to report a bug, we can't fix it!



To take snapshots, open your launcher and go to the "launch options" tab. Select the box that says "Enable snapshots" and save. To switch between the snapshot and normal version, you will find a new dropdown menu next to the "Play" button. Backup your entire world before you play the game in an alternative folder (in the "launch options") page.
