Gameplay
Signalis has simple gameplay wise is a tribute to the first classic survival games like Silent Hill and the resident Evil. It is a top down view, pixel, art, survival shooter that has limited melee capabilities and a limited inventory of six items that can be used to explore through the world.

It's a science fiction only single player narrative experience which brings tension to life with a variety of weak melee weapons forcing the battle to be played out at a weapons length , such as shotguns and pistols.

It is all interconnected spaces where you can search and find keys or items that help solve the puzzles by joining items into safe spaces that let you have the tools you require in order to survive.

You will encounter enemies who are pushed when there is no ammunition in the shotguns or pistols you encounter in the game world while trying to comprehend what and why you are doing what you're doing in this mysterious world.


The game is initially easy and simple, but you'll discover that the difficulty rises dramatically when the gameplay progresses, at times, to the point of exhaustion with enemies that revive and pop out of vents and floors, and more, and simple, straightforward, and thrilling boss fights in a claustrophobic environment.

I would say that it's not your fault however, if you advance in the game significantly, let's say 2 or 3 hours in and then you stop for a few days , coming back to the game can be a challenge since the game doesn't give you a list of what you are expected to do next. And because the map is a little hard to understand beginners may be put off at first however, if you follow the guides and stretch your brain muscles trust me, the pain is worth it.

The version of the enemy is a little limited to my taste however, it was created by two people, and I am able to accept it because what's there is in the majority of cases basic, classic and efficient use of the design of a survival horror game.

Story
The story is set in a dystopian world, presented in a way that makes you think and ponder the ending and the meaning behind the story, rather than simply playing the game and be explained what the story is about. Signalis free is designed to make you think about it.

I personally found the storytelling mechanisms of the female employees as well as the representation of female and male workers by the machines of a communist style work environment interesting.

I won't go much in the details to avoid spoilers So let me simply note that this isn't an easy read, and you are left to interpret according to my view, the meaning of things, for it is not grounded in logic or reality in the sense that it is.

Graphics/Performance
For the graphics and performance of Signalis the game I won't be doing an in-depth review because it is a good game and looks great for its unique art style. It's fast and flawless on every device you can play it on. I honestly hope it comes to mobile devices like iPhone and Android very soon.

I highly recommend playing this on an OLED Tv or Monitor because it's stunning.

For being done mostly by two individuals, I feel the sound design is quite simple and yet extremely effective in creating a claustrophobic adrenaline rush but with a calmness to invigorate the whole experience into an adrenaline-pumping rollercoaster of fear and terror.

Achievements/Fan Service
On the achievements side, the game is actually easy to get all the achievements and according to trueachievements.com, you can get them all with an 8 to 10 hours. SLA could even complete it in less time if you are looking to speed-run it.

On the fan service side to things , the anime Japanese depicted characters are cute beautiful, large eyes. The feminine character is portrayed by the art style and it is aesthetically pleasing and satisfying. So I rate it a thumbs up man of the culture. If you don't think it's enough, I'm going to have to advise you to touch some grass right now. Pause the video and go.

To conclude, I will say that this is one of those survival horror titles that be remembered in history as a simple but really top-quality Indie developer. SLA is a success story that I would recommend to anyone who loves survival horror should enjoy. Particularly, the classical style Evil, resident, as well as Silent Hill titles needs to try it out and try it out.

I don't usually replay all of my single player games fully thru so I won't working towards more endings, however I can say I'm glad and proud to have been able to go on this extraordinary journey by the publisher of the rose engine.
