The ONE News team heading over to Glasgow to report on the 2014 Commonwealth Games is ready to go and will bring viewers the the action every single day. Presenter Peter Williams is joined in Glasgow by Jessica Mutch, Paul Hobbs and Abby Scott, who are experts in reporting.

New Zealand is making its 20th appearance in the Commonwealth Games. With 233 athletes competing in 17 different sports, ONE News will keep viewers up to date with the play. Our team will be delivering updates on every news platform, on-air and at onenews.co.nz. Our team will be live on the ground beginning the day with Breakfast. The most important stories and interviews of the day will be shown at 6pm, and later . Tonight we'll be there to watch the day's events get started.

The entire ONE News team, reporters together with our amazing camera crews are excited to arrive in Glasgow and to support New Zealand's top athletes.

Peter Williams has a wealth of experience covering international sporting events. "The Commonwealth Games are always close to my heart mostly due to the 1974 games in Christchurch which led me to pursue a career in this field," he said. In 1982, Brisbane was the first Games I was employed at. I was a track cycling commentator and was awarded a New Zealand gold medal by Craig Adair the first night. Moments like this are difficult to forget.

"It's a real pleasure to be involved again. We are looking forward to Valerie and the All Black Sevens as well as the Silver Ferns and Tom Walsh leading the way for New Zealand - but we're expecting new kiwi sports heroes to emerge over the next two weeks and we'll be telling everyone about them on One News."

Europe Correspondent Jessica Mutch is based in London and has kept an watch on the run-up to the Games. She said, "The Commonwealth Games is not just about the top athletes coming together, but it's also about being a part of history." I'm really looking forward to covering the opening and closing ceremonies where Glasgow promises to host an extravagant event."

Abby Scott says she's dreamed of covering a major sporting event for a long time. She says, "The thing that I am most passionate about is the drama, and these Commonwealth Games promise plenty. I am eager to see whether the swimming team will win gold, or if Tom Walsh and Liam Stone two young diver divers, are able to make it to the top.

"In my day-to-day work as a sports journalist, I often watch our athletes doing the hard yards in training so it'll be nice to see all that hard work pay off with the entire nation watching."

Paul Hobbs was ONE News' Europe Correspondent and reported on the Track Cycling World Champs 2010 and 2011. He is eagerly awaiting our cyclists to be in top form. He says, "I remember how fantastic our young New Zealand team was. A great group of players, and they had a lot of potential, and I can't wait to see them perform again, now that they're at World Champ level. They'll be a force to be reckoned with."

Kimberlee Downs says that one of her most cherished Commonwealth Games memories is watching the Silver Ferns take gold in double overtime in Delhi; "The drama was incredible and my nerves were shot afterward. Imagine my joy to be able to support the team's quest for another gold.
