Avril Lavigne and Mon Sun go Punk on the Red Carpet at the VMAs

Mod Sun and Avril lavigne were present at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards in New Jersey on Sunday.



The 37-year-old hitmaker and her 35 year-old fiance stood out wearing matching chains on their trousers as they took pictures for cameras.



The Sk8er Boi was nominated for Best Alternative Video. Maneskin, an Italian band, won the award.



They are: Mod Sun and Avril Lavigne attended the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards at the Prudential Center, New Jersey on Sunday.



Lavigne wore a long-sleeve black t-shirt that was tucked into a wide-legged pair of pants.



The Complicated singer complemented her look with a variety of rings and a collection of chains that were tied around her waist.

The long blonde locks of her were dyed in part orange and cascaded onto her chest during the awards ceremony.



Mod Sun chose a nearly all-denim look, which included a button-up jacket as well as an over-sized pair of jeans.



Standing out: Lavigne wore an unusual long-sleeve t-shirt in black that was tied into wide-legged, matching pants.



The singer-songwriter born Derek Ryan Smith, added an element of darkness to his look with the black leather shoes.



The singer completed his look by wearing a white undershirt and a variety of jewelry.



Lavigne was nominated for the Best Alternative Video award for her work on the visuals for her track Love It When You Hate Me.



The song, which served as the second single from her most recent album Love Sux, featured rapper Blackbear.

In addition to the two performers, Mod Sun also received an award for his writing on the track.



Travis Barker was a drummer and one of the song's producers.



The track was released on January 14th and was immediately a commercial hit.

The clip shows the singer singing the song while speaking to female prisoners in an women's prison.



The video also included Barker and Blackbear, who took part in a variety of dance routines.



While the track was put up for the award, it was given to Maneksin for their work on the video for their song I Want to Be Your Slave.



Not chosen: The track was not chosen. However, the award was presented to Maneksin for their contribution to the clip I Want to Be Your Slave.
