James Whitfield Thomson is a Vietnam veteran and author of a novel about the conflict. He holds a Ph.D. in American studies from the University of Pennsylvania. His book Agni has been hailed as a bestselling novel. James Whitfieldthomson lives in Natick, Massachusetts, with his wife.
A graduate of Harvard University with a major in English, Thompson served two tours of duty in the U.S. Navy as a navigator. After his service, he received a doctorate from the University of Pennsylvania and spent a year teaching at the University of Miami. However, he eventually turned to writing and joined Equitrac Corp. as its second employee. He eventually retired thirteen years later. Thomson has since written several short stories.
As an author, Thomson has written several other books, including his first novel, Jukebox King, which has been optioned for film. He is also working on a sequel about his sister's death in 1974. In addition, he has also written a memoir and a historical thriller.
