What are the key points of domestic helper law 2022
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced that the new legal system regarding domestic workers aims to strengthen and regulate work relations with domestic workers in the UAE and define the responsibilities of the parties to the relationship in a way that preserves their rights and obligations in a balanced manner and ensures the provision of an appropriate work environment for domestic workers in accordance with the legislation and international agreements in force in the UAE. The new system will enter into force on December 15, 2022, whereby the domestic worker must not be brought in from his country except after informing him of the type and nature of the work, the amount of the wage, and the availability of proof of his fitness, health, psychological, occupational and other conditions specified in accordance with the executive regulations of the decree and other decisions issued by the Ministry.

1-To treat the domestic worker well, to educate him about the customs and traditions of the Emirati society, and to acquaint him with the competent authorities to consider his complaint about any violation of his rights and freedoms.

3-The employer is prohibited from employing any domestic worker for him unless he is licensed to work and not employing him for others, or with a profession different from the nature of his work, except with his consent.

The domestic worker must respect the privacy of the workplace, preserve the employer’s property, work tools, and everything in his custody, and not use them outside work without the employer’s approval, and not work under any form except under a work permit issued to him by the Ministry and in accordance with the applicable conditions.
