Minecraft doco makers upload film to Pirate Bay
"We knew the movie would be finished."
The creators of a recent Minecraft documentary have uploaded it to The Pirate Bay in the hope that people who download it will also contribute money their way.
Minecraft The Story of Mojang, the first feature-length documentary produced by 2 Player Productions, "just three guys who are trying to make money doing what they love", according the Pirate Bay listing.
"We wanted to visit to this first, as we knew the film would be here in the end and the best way to start would be to start the dialogue," wrote the company.
"Torrents and piratery are a way for us to survive and it's unlikely to be changing anytime soon."
The trio encourages those who enjoy the movie to purchase a DRM-free copy for US$8 (AU$7.69), or a DVD for $20 (19.23).
"Maybe you don't have the money. Maybe you want to try before you purchase. Perhaps you are angry with us for releasing the film through Xbox Live. These are all good reasons," 2 Player wrote.
"But If piracy is, in the words of Gabe Newell, a problem of service We offer DRM-free digital downloads that can be viewed any way you want."

According to its official website, Minecraft: The Story of Mojang follows the company's growth through its first year of operation, as its popularity grows across the globe and into the homes of millions of gamers.
It includes interviews with industry legends such as Tim Schafer, Peter Molyneux and Tycho from Penny Arcade.
