Robotic Potato
Robotic Potato is an unorthodox robot that was designed for season 1.5 of This is Fighting Robots. It's a twin-stick shooter with a feline bent. It uses a UniPaker robotic pick and place cell. This article explores the robot's construction and uses. It is an example of how a robotic system can be designed to produce a high-quality product.

Robotic Potato was a twin-stick shooter with a feline bent

If you enjoyed Robotic Potato, you might want to check out this new game from the same developers. This twin-stick shooter features a cat-like protagonist and a unique take on space shooters. Its feline theme and mash-up of space shooters make for a fun intergalactic adventure.

It competed in Season 1.5 of This is Fighting Robots

Robotic Potato, a Chinese robot that competed in Season 1.5 of This is Fighting robots, has gained worldwide fame. The team spent six months developing the robot. It was manufactured in Shanghai. The robot competed against rivals from across the world. The team was able to win the competition, which paid half a million yuan in prize money.

Robotic Potato's rival, Big Potato, also competed in Season 1.5 of This is Fighting robots. It was a two-wheel driven robot that featured a wide front wedge and a vertical spinning disc. Its top speed was high, and it could run inverted. It was heavily armored, and its wedge is one of the toughest weapons on the show. Unfortunately, its design made it difficult to access its wheels.

It was built by Tasteful Selections

The Robotic Potato was built to increase speed and quality for a specialty potato company. The company wanted to make sure that potatoes were uniform in size and color, and that the manufacturing process was based on the highest quality and food safety practices. This required a robotic solution that could minimize bumps on potatoes and avoid the need for human touch.

Tasteful Selections is a forward-thinking potato producer that uses state-of-the-art production technology. When they decided to expand their potato production line, they turned to robotic automation to increase productivity. They began by looking for the right gripper, which they found with Soft Robotics' help.

It uses a UniPaker robotic pick-and-place cell

A UniPaker robotic pick and place cell helps Morrisons pack potatoes more efficiently and produce a better-looking product. The cell's four-arm, delta robot can orient and pack the potatoes in a single file. The robot's reach is 1130mm.

In the past, potato packs were manually loaded into crates. This was time-consuming, prone to packaging bottlenecks and created a messy tray presentation. The robotic system reduces this problem and helps to meet the company's two-year payback goal.

It is fed by a Brillopak Crate DeStaker system

A Brillopak Crate DeStakeer system is a highly automated crate destacking system that separates 480 crates every half hour. The unit feeds multiple lines and clamps down the bottom crate to separate it from the stack. It prevents two crates from being despatched at the same time, reducing labour on the line. It also improves worker health and job satisfaction.

The Brillopak Crate DeStakeser system is fed by two robotic cells in Morrisons' modern fresh produce depot. The robots are fed by retail trays and are equipped with a UniPaker robotic system with a reach of 1130mm. The UniPaker system is fitted with Rumble conveyors, which enables the robots to settle each potato pack in one file. This means that each potato pack is presented to the customer in a precise manner. The potato packing line at Morrisons was time-consuming and resulted in packing bottlenecks. It also caused messy tray presentation.

It can handle different sizes and weights

The Machine Learning System (MLS) that is responsible for this task comprises a convolutional neural network and a softmax regression model. The latter is able to classify potatoes into six quality levels based on their size and appearance. It has a high success rate in size and weight classification and has a low error rate in appearance classification. It is able to detect abnormal defects and classify them into the proper size and quality levels.

With the new system, the potato is processed more quickly, and it is less likely to have bumps. It also avoids the need for additional packers or employees. Furthermore, the Robotic Potato is designed to handle different weights and sizes.

It can analyse thermal images of potatoes

Thermal imaging is an essential component of potato disease diagnosis. In some cases, a potato has many viruses and fungi in it, making it important to test each sample to find the source. To identify which potato viruses are causing disease, seed potatoes should be inspected for infected tubers and peels. Fortunately, robotics offers a simple, automated solution to this problem.

Crop scouting is critical to managing crops. Conventional approaches can take a significant amount of staff and time, but unmanned aerial vehicle imagery has interesting perspectives and can be used to identify potential problems and improve agricultural practices. This study developed a tool to analyze thermal images of potatoes, a crop that is sensitive to disease. It uses a simple preprocessing method to produce thermal images that are suitable for crop monitoring.
