Minecraft is a hugely popular game and has been attracting new fans every day. For parents who aren't part of the Minecraft movement, the words that kids use to describe their play sessions can seem like an alien language. For instance, your kid might say something like, "That mod gave sweet amounts of redstone in the Nether However, the mobs there were so aggressive I really would prefer to not having to contend with Creepers." Yikes!
It's time for you to pick up some lingo. Here's a glossary of some of the most commonly used terms in Minecraft. It will help you understand the fundamentals of the game and give you a quick introduction to the world of mining, brewing and crafting.
Biome. Biomes are regions in the Minecraft world, including forests, jungles and deserts. They have their own climatic and environmental features, including rainfall cycles, variations in grass or plant life and even geographic structures, such as mountains and rivers.
Creative/survival. Survival and creativity are two of the main game modes in Minecraft. Minecraft-server-list.Fun The creative mode lets players construct anything they want with the endless amount of blocks. It also makes the players invincible against potential enemies. The survival mode is the normal game mode. Here, players must find resources as well as fight mobs and explore in order to stay alive.
Creeper. One of the most recognizable (and disliked) monsters in Minecraft, Creepers are an aggressive group of players who try their best to sneak up on a player before they explode. The blast can cause significant damage to almost everything and can be fatal if your focus is not focused on other enemies.
Enderman. The Enderman is one the more bizarre mobs in Minecraft. They are thin, tall creatures that play in pairs. They typically pick up and place blocks randomly. They could pose a danger to structures constructed by the player since they destroy your shelters. Traditionally neutral, the Enderman aren't aggressive unless attacked or unless you provoke them by staring at them, at which point they'll offer you the business, then teleport away until killed or neutralized.
Mob. A mob can be described as any living creature that plays the game. Certain mobs are neutral, such as horses or chickens. Some can be hostile, such as Creepers.
Mod. Mod is a short form for "modification" and refers to anything that changes the nature of the game. Modification can mean anything from the addition of new materials to design elements in creative mode to adding difficulty levels. Mods are user-created content which are not included in the initial installation and must be downloaded in order to be incorporated into the game. Mods can be installed individually or in a bundle but be aware that altering the game may cause it to stop functioning.
Mojang. The creators and developers behind Minecraft, Mojang was founded by Markkus Persson, Jakob Porser and Carl Manneh. Microsoft recently bought the company for $2.5 billion.
Nether. The Nether is an alternative dimension to the Minecraft world that resembles a hellish landscape. It's only accessible via a player-created entry called a portal. The Nether is filled with environmental hazards such as lava and flames as well as unique mobs. A lot of common materials and objects are affected by the Nether and function completely differently than in the normal world (the "Overworld"), however, the Nether also offers rare materials.
Pickaxe. Pickaxes are a typical Minecraft tool that is used to mine bricks for valuable materials. These tools are crafted by the player and are further improved with distinct characteristics to enhance their capabilities.
Redstone. Redstone is among the most versatile and common materials in Minecraft. It can be used to create components and for making potions. Its most notable characteristic is its ability to power devices like pistons and doors.
Sandbox. Sandbox is a video game that lets players explore and modify the world without any limitations. A true sandbox game allows players to modify their gameplay and even become a game designer. Minecraft is a game that is sandbox-like.
Server. A Minecraft server lets players engage in multiplayer games online. There are no servers that are alike and they're usually set up into specific game types. These can range from team-based or solo-player-versus-solo-player combat to capture-the-flag and last-player-standing matches.
Skin. Skins are any type of texture that is applied to an avatar or mob to give players the ability to customize the game. Skins don't bring any advantages or disadvantages, but they do add visual appeal to the game and can be almost everything you can imagine. These skins can be anything from Santa Claus to Avengers characters.
Steve. Steve is the masculine default skin for the game. It's also the name of the playable character that players control. His basic appearance is a man with a light blue shirt, blue jeans, gray shoes and dark hair.
