Minecraft Chat Reporting Features will be Available, Says Mojang

Minecraft's moderation and reporting features were first announced last month and quickly received feedback from the community that criticized them for being unsuitable for the task. Mojang has stated that they will continue to utilize the tools, despite some harsh criticisms and arguments.



MojangMeesh (the community manager on Reddit) posted a post explaining his decision. "We appreciate and value all your feedback, but it does not mean that feedback will ever alter the design principles Mojang Studios adheres to - this includes upcoming reporting system." 30tt The second paragraph of the post states that players have been posting comments on complaints submitted by Mojang employees. Harassment is a bad thing, and is, ironically, the purpose of the reporting features in the first place.



Many players, in response this comment, have expressed that they don't feel like they're being heard. They consider every Minecraft server a safe haven and shouldn't be moderated. This is the case that there are several ways to remove these features from your personal server, whether by using Spigot or using a CurseForge mod.



In the end, if there aren't any complaints or discussions are planned to alter the features, then it's natural that players feel left out. Many people have spent over a decade playing the game and believe that it shouldn't be watched. However, it's also important to remember that Minecraft is a game replete with younger players, so there do need to be safety features in place to protect them from harm. But, it doesn't seem that anything will change soon.
