Hello, new snapshot! time Hallo, new cave generation!
This snapshot makes a significant change in the way caves are generated in Minecraft. You could say that we're now introducing the cave part of Caves & Cliffs.
This is only the initial step in our underground journey, so please note that snapshots depict features in the beginning stages of development. There are two important caveats to this snapshot:
Old worlds won't be accessible in this snapshot because there isn't an upgrade path to the new world's height. - All caves between y31 and y63 will be flooded.
New Features in 21w06a
- Noise caves and aquifers were added
Aquifers and noise caves
- Noise caves are a innovative method of creating caves. They provide more natural variety. Sometimes, they can be quite large! Noise caves are available in two varieties Caves of cheese. Similar to the holes found in Swiss cheese. They often form caverns that are different dimensions. - Spaghetti caves. Sometimes the tunnels are lengthy and squiggly. Other times, they are more like tagliatelle.
Changes in 21w06a
Overworld build and generation limits have been increased Mineshafts have been upgraded to accommodate larger caves - You can no longer crouch or jump to stop a large dripleaf from tipping - A big dripleaf will slide rather than break when hit by a projectile A big redstone-powered dripleaf will not sway (except when hit by a projectile) - The textures of hanging roots and small dripleaves are updated
The range of generation and limit on building have been increased by 64 blocks up and down, to a total of 384 blocks. - Underground features, structures and caves produce all the way to the level of y -64.
Mineshaft changes
Mineshaft pieces can't produce when they are floating in the air. Mineshaft corridors are anchored by log pillars whenever needed - No floating cobwebs
Fixed bugs in 21w06a
MC-214346: The big dripleaf can easily be broken with arrows in the spawn protection MC-213813. Small dripleaf can easily destroy any block
