In an effort to become an AVID Demonstration campus, the staff and students have been working so hard to be a model AVID school for campuses all over the country.

Becoming an AVID Demonstration school has presented many positive things. The AVID Demonstration would benefit our school as a whole.

Mrs. Katrina Mabry-Smith, AVID site coordinator said, “The AVID demonstration will show us we're providing the best support and confirming the way AVID approves best."

There are multiple ways each student can be keen to the AVID standards.

Mrs. Mabry–Smith said “AVID helps students become more well rounded, and involve many opportunities in leadership and community service. The program also helps you prepare for college with AP classes, applying for scholarships/FAFSA and presents ways to succeed including tutorials and preparing Cornell notes.”

There has been so much hard work in the past year trying to accomplish the AVID Demonstration recognition; by implementing AVID strategies and values into the classroom.

Mabry-Smith also said, “AVID students able to speak up, set goals and are very conscience about grades; they are organized, prepared and model students for our school”. She also expressed she “couldn’t be prouder of the efforts, that are moving us towards AVID demonstration and the staff has been “wicorific” and we appreciated them using AVID strategies."

Many AVID students are ecstatic for Timberview to become an AVID campus; this program has helped them with their organization, grades, etc.

Chanlyn Nueva, an AVID student, thinks that, “the AVID demonstration will affect the school in a good way because everyone will be organized and prepared for the years after high school."

The AVID program gives as much college exposure as possible and helps students that plan to go to college.

Nueva also said “AVID shows the importance of grades and being more organized and prepared to be more academically ready for the school day.

AVID has been essential to many students, but some students are having concerns about Timberview becoming an AVID Demonstration campus.

Fareeha Yasin, said, “The AVID Demonstration would only add rules, binder checks and would be strict regarding organization."
