Minetest is the open source and free Voxel game engine, influenced initially by Minecraft it is gradually getting larger and better with plenty of available games for it. A new version is in the works with Minetest 5.4.0 now having a first release Candidate and a time at which they'll need as many players as they can to try it out and ensure it works as expected.
They added an in-game interface for downloading games and mods in Minetest 5.0, which was released in 2019. It worked and they improved it every release, but the biggest pain point was the dependency system. One modification required another one, and it went on. Finding the right one was a challenge but maybe no longer. The 5.4 release features a brand new interface for downloading mods and games and games, as well as dependency resolution, an ability to update all, and download queues.

It can make it a huge amount simpler, and faster too. It allows you to customize your Minetest experience exactly as you would like it.
