Billywig merupakan serangga berasal dari Australia. Panjangnya sekitar 1,25 sentimeter, dan berwarna biru safir cerah.
Kecepatan hewan ini begitu tinggi sehingga jarang dilihat oleh Muggle dan sering kali tidak diperhatikan oleh penyihir sampai akhirnya mereka terkena sengatan billywig.
Sayap Billywig menempel di puncak kepalanya dan berputar sangat cepat ketika Billywig terbang.
Di bagian bawah tubuhnya terdapat sengat yang tipis panjang. Mereka yang pernah disengat Billywig biasanya menderita pusing dan seperti melayang layang.
Generasi muda penyihir Australia telah berupaya menangkap Billywig dan memancing hewan-hewan itu untuk menyengat agar bisa menikmati efek samping ini.
Jika terlalu banyak sengatan bisa menyebabkan korban melayang-layang tak terkendali selama berhari-hari terus menerus, dan bila korban menderita reaksi alergi yang parah, ia bisa melayang-layang untuk selamanya.
