Hi Simone,

Thank you for your response. I am sorry that you feel that I am not mature or responsible enough to be a junior counselor. I actually felt that I did a very good job with my bunk when I was in Anafim this past summer. In fact, I received multiple accolades from campers directly. Moreover, I donated a lot of my free time to helping with chugim/bunk rotations, as well as frequently keeping campers entertained with cards and chess games. Even when I was working in the kitchen, I spent some of my free time helping with campers. Even back when I was in TAP, I put in extra effort with Eli Powell to create a new advanced guitar chug for the campers. I also gave up my Shmoozes and shower-time when I was an herbs apprentice in order to work on my project as much as possible.

I am also sorry to hear that you are basing this decision on one event (which took place one month after our interview) at which the atmosphere made it not so clear what the roles of the volunteers actually were and at which I was not the only one to exhibit the behavior that you mentioned in your email. I certainly don't think that I specifically show less maturity, drive, and leadership ability than my peers who were quickly hired for junior counselor positions.

While I appreciate the offer for the kitchen staff position, I specifically asked to leave the kitchen midway through my time as an Anaf because it isn't for me. I am sorry that I won't be able to work at the camp that I have been a part of for almost six years, and I am equally sorry that it was handled in a way that was somewhat hurtful to me.
