I feel that President Kennedy made the right decisions during the Cuban Missile Crisis. Although some criticized his actions and say that he should have taken the advice of the military and used nuclear bombs on the missile sites, I believe that, because we did not know entirely the full extent of the missiles and how far the Soviets could launch them, President Kennedy made the right decision to blockade Cuba and force them to take down their missiles. If Kennedy had taken the military's advice, the Soviet Union could have acted unpredictably and they might have considered it an attack and launched thier Cuban missiles. This might have been the start of World War III. The United States did not know exactly how many missiles the Soviet Union had in Cuba or how far they could lauch them. Due to the poor resolution of the high flight U2 spy planes, the United States greatly underestimated the range of the Cuban missiles.
