Title: “The Revelation of Louisa May”
Author: Michaela MacColl
Pages: 235
  Historical Fiction
Summary:
In the beginning, Louisa May Alcott figured out that Marmee is going to leave to  New  Hampshire in the city to get a job because their family is running low on money. So, Louisa is left to take care of her family, especially her temperamental father, help George, a fugitive slave, and find time to do her writing. So she goes to seek help from a man named Henry, a guy she likes, to only find him with a woman named Lidian, a woman over half his age. Then, later on in the book, a man ran over Louisa with his horse on accident, and it turned out that he was a slave catcher named Russell Finch, and he was looking for George. He is a wanted slave, and whoever finds him gets a big reward. In the middle of the book, one of Louisa’s friends came back to town to visit her family, Fred Llewellyn. After a while, she started to like Fred. Then, there was a mysterious death of Russell Finch, the slave catcher, and at the end of the book, Louisa figures out who it was.. Fred. So she went to tell her dad, but she knew that he wouldn’t turn him in because if truth be told, her dad likes Fred more than his own daughter.

My favorite part in the book was when Fred came to town because then Louisa was happier and it just made the book better.

The story takes place in a place with mountains and plains all around.

The main characters in the book are Louisa, Fred, Russell Finch, and Henry Thoreau.

If i could go back in time and meet one of the characters, i would want to meet LOuisa. I would ask her what it felt like when she figured out that Fred killed Mr. Finch, and how she took care of her family as well as George.

I have actually been to Virginia (where the story took place) multiple times because my great grandparents live there. And it reminds me of the setting of the story because they have a small house, but lots of flat land.

The story took place in the 1960’s, and i would not have wanted to be there at the time because slavery was going on and I don’t know about you, but I would not want to be apart of that.

The theme of this book might be to not give up on someone even though it might put you in danger, but for a good cause. In the story, George, the fugitive slave, as telling Louisa that she didn’t have to help him get to freedom, but she didn’t back down and stop helping him, even if it meant she could get in a lot of trouble. And that is what I learned from reading this book.
