1st Discussion Point - Role Play .. yaay!!!
1. Role Play - A sends a friend request to B
For 'each' successful recommendation A gets + 90 days of extra service
B If signs up for the product/service and gets the discount (based on following country zones..)
B Discount varies from according to country.
1. Europe Zone - 20%
2. South America - 30%
4. Asia - 40%
Task :
Convince Developers why you want this implemented -
A. How to identify customers belong to which zone/country ?
B. Why using Hard coding is a bad idea ? (Which we forgot to discuss..- But I have covered it here.. )

How to identify customers belong to which zone/country ?
1. In the end all customers want a good product for cheap price.
2. How to know customers is buying from where ?
We will try to combine 2 possible solutions here - IP address identification and Credit card identification
a) IP address identification - Home page opens up in the language from where it was accessed. If for eg in from Germany, then language is shown as German and prices are from European Zone.
b) Credit card country identification -
1. Once the user logs into his/her account and enters the credit card details
2. Once the origin of the credit card issuing authority is a identified.
3. According to the identified country there can be 2 further cases.
3.1 If the identified country 'according to credit card' details is offering a lower price of product.
3.1.1 In that case - the web page changes to base page of the country from where the credit card was issued. And shows gives lower price value to the customer.
3.2 If the identified country 'according to credit card details' is offering a higher price than the existing price being shown to the customer - The webpage should not change. It should show lower price - between country of origin and credit card identification.

Sequence diagram or Use case diagram....

What do we achieve from this ?
Customers perspective - The customers are not happy if the webpage changes the prices(if the price goes up) when they log in to buy. But the customers will almost always be happy and stay with company if they have to pay lower than what they expected (were about to pay) !
Avira's perspective - The customer still buys the product - as they were originally buying at the given price, but if the price is lowered , the customer stays and continues to use avira products and could also recommend other friends .. = generates more revenue for Avira.

B. Why hard coding is a bad idea ? ( We missed out to discuss this.. so here it is... )
Bottom line is : Customers change their requirements !! This is a raw truth ! - And as service providers we have to accept them.
But we have to accept them/negotiate with Clients or customers on the time line and feasibility of change requests. - If any business needs to survive in the market.
1. Since customers change their mind often and requirements change- As Service providers we cannot Say NO to them !! - The development team needs to be equipped with people who can make those changes within a given time frame - This means the code needs to be highly Maintainable ! - In case of Hard coding - the developers need to spend a lot of time to make those changes - finally adding to maintenance cost
2. Some-one else starts to work on your code - In Current IT landscape one person is expected to do multiple jobs - So developers can change within the team - so the next person handling someone-else code needs to spend more time if things are hard-coded !
3. Changing a simple configuration would mean changing the code - recompiling and re-deploying - Which is in-efficient , Incurs cost and causes down time to services ! - Causing un-happy customers !!

2nd Discussion point :
Now customer A recommends several friends and lets say over 100 friends. In the end A gets 100 * 90 days of extended services.
Here the question is ? - Should avira go with model/strategy ?
Answer : The Initial idea is good, but this strategy has to be implemented in a CONTROLLED fashion.
Controlled fashion : Example - Dropbox gives 250 GB extra storage, when u recommend a friend(Ofcourse the friend has to install or use dropbox). but what they say is, you can get max of 3GB of extra storage by 'recommending' friends. Not beyond that.
I would say Avira has to should follow a business model where Avira limits the number of free days extension by recommending a friend. Lets say to a forseeable number like max of 100 days of extension by 'recommending' friends and the with each recommendation u can get 20 days free -(So that means max to 5 friend recommendations (5 Friends * 20 days/friend =100))
Reason : 1. Tomorrow Avira might want to discontinue the product that customer is using due to strategic/business reasons. Extending the service limitless would show-up lack of strategic planning of products within Avira.
2. If the customer was getting services for Mac book , - Tomorrow the customer might change his laptop, he might not want to use mac book any more and switch to windows or linux. Then in that case the extra 100 days would not mean anything - leaving a un-happy customer !
3. Promote other existing Avira Product - I feel Avira should take advantage of the fact that they have a loyal customer. Instead of providing limitless extension days to every successful friend recommendation. Avira can promote new or existing products to that customer after the maximum limit for friend recommendation has been reached.
How this help both Avira and Customers ? -
Avira: Lets say after maximum friend recommendation is reached - "if" Avira collects the user data and knows that Customers also uses Andriod Phone. They can promote their product exiting Andriod product to the customer by giving extension on that android product after the trial period is over. (If this product at-all has trial period). In that case if customer likes the product they will buy this product . Avira could run friend recommendation program on this Android product then. This helps avira sell / promote another existing product. Or if avira has product which is less know or is a low seller , this can help them promote that.

How it helps customer - Assumption: Customer uses Avira's Macbook antivirus -
Customer does not have to tied to their Mac book just because they have limitless antivirus plan. It gives them flexibility to move around different laptops/OS's . Also customers sees that Avira is ready to go beyond their normal path to provide value to customers - result --> Happy and loyal customer.

3rd Discussion point - If a two people recommend the same(third) person a product. Which friend should benefit from Avira ?
Assumption: Friend 1 : Good Friend , Friend 2: Okay-Okay Friend ;) - recommend a product to Friend 3:Common Friend.
Use case 1: First Come , First served basis
Assumption : Friend 1 recommends product to Friend 3. each friend recommendation has or should have a validity, as to when that recommendation expires. If during that validity period Friend 2 also recommends same product to Friend 3.
Avira should give extra service the Friend who recommended the product 'first ' and the his/her recommendation has NOT 'expired'. So this case Friend 1 gets the extra services.
Use case 2 : Give the option to Friend 3 to decide whose recommendation he/she takes.
Condition: The validity of recommendation for Friend 1 and Friend 2 still stands.
If Friend 1 is a closer friend for Friend 3 and above conditions are met that his validity/offer still stands. Then friend 1 gets the extra services by Avira. and Notification goes to Friend 2 that he/she did not get the extra services - with help of using Captcha or Sms verification or simple math question '1+1= ? ' so that No spamming engine gets access to avira email id's.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Things of improvement - After accessing the career login page - Its user-friendly to display the login name or user id on the page.
Below the screenshot is missing that - It only shows "log off" button. - It should show who the user has logged in to the website.
