Hari Valentine adalah hari dimana seorang santo Katolik bernama Santo Valentine dihukum mati.
Santo Valentine hidup di jaman saat kerajaan dipimpin oleh Kaisar Claudius yang kejam, Santo sendiri membencinya. Sang kaisar ini punya ambisi untuk memiliki pasukan militer yang besar, dia ingin melibatkan seluruh pria di kerajaannya. Sementara para pria enggan bergabung karena berat meninggalkan kekasih atau keluarganya, membuat sang kaisar marah besar. Akhirnya kaisar itu membuat sebuah ide dimana pernikahan dilarang, supaya pria di kerajaannya mau bergabung di militer. Santo Valentine tentu tidak terima, ia tetap melakukan tugasnya yaitu menikahkan pasangan dimabuk cinta. Lalu suatu malam, ia tertangkap ketika sedang melakukan prosesi pernikahan. Sedangkan kedua pengantin berhasil kabur.
