Pada tahun 1996 (tahun keima harry) ia dikenai masa percobaan oleh Dolores Umbrige, Inkusiator Agung Hogwarts. Hal ini menyebabkan Trewalney mengallami shock. Ia sering terlihat keluyuran di dalam kastil dengan botol sherry di tangannya dan bergumam tentang kekejaman Umbridge. Keadaan memburuk ketika Umbridge mengusirnya keluar dari sekolah. Untunglah Dumbledore turun tanagn, dan meminta Trelawney untuk tetap tinggal di Howarts. Dumbledore mengkhawatirkan keselamatan Trelawney bila berada diluar kkastil, karena Voldemort pastilah akan mencarinya sehubungan dengan ramalan yang pernah dibuat Trelawney.
Lalu untuk menggantikan Trilawney yang masih shock, Dumbledore mempekerjakan Firenze, salah satu centaurus dari Hutan Terlarang. Lalu dia yang pernah bertemu dengan Harry pertama kali. Setelah Umbridge tidak lagi bekerja di Hogwarts, Trelawney dapat menguasai dirinya dan kembali mengajar. Meskipun ia sangat tidak menyukainya, ia harus berbagi dengan Firenze yang tetap mengajar Ramalan. Firenze tidak mungkin kembali ke Hutan karena dianggap pengkhianat oleh kaumnya ketika ia menerima tawaran bekerja dengan manusia.
