Battle of Ypres- October 19, 1914 The thick muddy conditions in the Battle of Ypres left many soldiers out of service because of trench foot and other health related illnesses.

Gallipoli Campaign- April 25, 1915 The Ottoman soldiers got the advantage at the battle getting the high ground, forcing the Allied soldiers to go up the hill without getting shot, this extremely changed the outcome of the battle

Battle of Verdun- Feb 21, 1916 A combination of heavy artillery fire and rain and bad weather conditions led to extremely thick mud, when soldiers would go over the top the machine guns would mow down the men who were stuck in the mud.

Battle of Isonzo- June 23, 1915 Italian forces outnumbered the Austrians three-to-one but failed to penetrate the strong Austro-Hungarian defensive lines in the highlands of northwestern Gorizia and Gradisca. Because the Austrian forces occupied higher ground, Italians conducted difficult offensives while climbing. The Italian forces therefore failed to drive much beyond the river.

Battle of Sarikamish- December 22, 1914 The Ottomans employed a strategy which demanded that their troops be highly mobile and to arrive at specified objectives at precise times. Ill-prepared for winter conditions, suffered major casualties in the Allahuekber Mountains.
