Sign in to your services and subscriptions page with your Microsoft account.
Find your past-due subscription in the list, then select Pay now.
Choose how you want to pay. To fix an expiration date or add a new way to pay, choose that option. (Sorry, you can't pay for a past-due subscription with a gift card or subscription card).
Select Next to make the payment.

Our Local Currency works like MS Points before. It is exclusively for buying contents found on our XBOX Marketplace. At the moment Local Currency is not yet an option to pay for your membership as it is not yet at its full feature. That is why it is not allowing you to purchase xbox live gold subscription, as of the moment , local currencies are use to pay games, contents, and other dlc's
That doesn't mean much to me. I added $100 bucks to my account via BitCoin, and I would like to use it to purchase xbox live
I understand, and since you're not aware that it is not allowed to purchase a subscription, here's what we're going to do here, we will provide you a one time courtesy exception, where we will give you a 1month subscription code.
But to set you a proper expectation, by nextime, you can only purchase subscription using a valid payment method, such as credit card or paypal (with credit card attach)
Thanks for the free month, but I cashed in BitCoin for the sole purchase of xbox live, can I get that refunded back to bitcoin if I cant use it

the $100 I added to my account via BitCoin. I intended to use this to purchase a year of xbox live. As I cannot use it to purchase xbox live I would like it refunded back to my BitCoin Wallet

I check it here in my end and have this one validated with our highest team, however there is no option for us to processing a refund for any bitcoin.
But the good thing here is that, that Microsoft balance that you have on your account has no expiration, you can use that one anytime by purchasing items, or contents and games
So let me see if I understand this correctly. I added $100 to my account to purchase xbox live. The money is in my account but you won't let me spend it. Also, you wont refund it. Does this seem right to you
Okay, I understand you point here. You can actually use that one to purchase, however, you can use that Microsoft balance, to purchase xbox games, contents, dlc's, and items, except xbox live gold subscription.

The reason why we can no longer process a refund to it, was because , once it was applied to account, it will be applied permanently.

Ok Ill provide a quick summary, or what I feel is going on.
1) Added $100 to my microsoft account via bitcoin. 2) Tried to purchae a subscription based service with the funds. 3) Microsoft account funds cannot be applied to subscriptions. 4) Cannot refund bitcoin transactions

Thank you for clarifying that. Actually, we still do not have the option to purchase an XBOX Live Subscription via XBOX Live Marketplace using MS funds on the account. We made sure to indicate that on the support page after we have migrated MS points to MS funds/currency. Please check the link for the reference( http://support.xbox.com/en-US/billing/microsoft-account-balance/microsoft-points-retire-faq )
However this can be used to purchase XBOX Contents and items posted on MS Store Online.
Also it does not expire, so it can be used anytime.
I am glad you wrote an article about why it doesn't work. Would of helped to know that at the get go. Can you please refund my money
As to reversing the transaction from BitCoin to MS Funds, we would like to inform you that we do not have such option since we stared with BitCoin services. However you do have an option to contact BitCoin Support to have the charges reversed on their end instead.
Please put yourself in my shoes, you walk into a store give the man $100 to purchase an item. He takes the $100 but does not give you the item, or the money
I do see your point, if this is under consumer's rights a full refund is actually applicable only if the store did provided an item you did not intend to purchase based on what was described on what the consumer really wants to purchase.
In other words, advertised by the store as the ones you needed when infact it was not.
Apparently we did not advertise that a MS funds can be used to purchase a subscription. But yes, I do perfectly see your point on this case. It is just that we do have process to follow for certain case like this.
Im not sure what that is, but I only have so much money in my life to buy things with. $100 is a lot to me. I don't have enough money to pay for a subscription for my son. There is 24 dollars in my checking account for the next week.
I do know how you really wish to proceed on this case and if the option is only available I would really offer it to you without asking for it.

Thanks for confirming. I will now be giving an approval to Aliah to complete the process. Basically, Aliah could have offered the same option to you if the intention to purchase a 12month Gold was expressed earlier.
I did actually talked to Aliah and asked why she did not offer the same option I offered, and she said it was because the intention expressed earlier was for 9.99 Gold which is one month.
Will it be fine with you if Aliah will have to complete the process for you today?
