Music is what drives me. I started playing the piano when I was eight years old, and I absolutely loved it. With a stroke of the keys, I was capable of creating good and bad sounds. I could put those sounds together in any way that I wanted. I loved it! My love for piano and music drove me to starting my own business so that I could buy my own piano.
When I was nine years old, my grandmother started creating these wall rugs that looked absolutely incredible as a hobby, and I came up with an idea. I talked to her and asked if she would take special orders and if she’d be okay with me selling these rugs. She thought it was a fantastic idea, and told me that she’d make the rugs as long as I sold them and she received 50% of the profit. I went to work. I had my angelic mother drive me around Tooele so that I could advertise these rugs. I visited businesses and participated art fairs. I didn’t sell very many to start with, but I didn’t give up. Within six months, sales were picking up, and I was getting closer to my goal. I had done my research, and I had decided that I wanted to buy a Yamaha electric piano. It would cost me around $350. It took me a lot of hard work, but I earned enough money to buy that piano, and I still own and use it every day.
