Primul Razboi Mondial,denumit si Razboiul Natiunilor,a fost un conflict militar de dimensiuni mondiale.Evenimentele s-au desfasurat astfel: 28.07.1914 Austro-Ungaria ataca Serbia;30.07.1914 Rusia sustinand Serbia,decreteaza mobilizarea generala;Ca replica,Germania invadeaza Belgia iar Anglia si dominioanele sale declara razboi Germaniei 05.08.1914 Austro-Ungaria declara razboi Rusiei 06.08.1914;Serbia Germaniei 06.08.1914 Franta Austro-Ungariei 11.08.1914.La 23.08.1914 Japonia declara razboi Germaniei,conflictul european devenind mondial.La 27.08.1916 Romania intra in razboi de partea Antantei,iar la 06.08.1917 Statele Unite ale Americii intra in razboi impotriva Puterilor Centrale.
O caracteristica a razboiului este folosirea strategica pe scara larga a transeelor ca linii de aparare pe Frontul de Vest,intinzandu-se de la Marea Nordului pana la granita cu Elvetia.Mai mult de 9.000.000 de persoane si-au pierdut viata pe linia frontului,iar pe langa acestea,mai multi si-aupierdut viata in spatele frontului din cauza lipsei elementelor de baza-mancare,apa sau combustibil,mobilizate strict armatelor-si a genocidului comis sub acoperirea a unor "razboaie civile"{genocidul armean}
Primul Razboi Mondial a fost o ruptura decisiva cu ordini vechi mondiale,marcand incetarea finala a absolutismului monarhic in Europa.Patru Imperii au fost doborate:German,Austro-Ungar,Otoman si Rus.Dinastiile lor avandinflurnta si putere inca din timpul cruciadelor,au cazut dupa razboi.Esecul de a rezolva crizele postbelice a contribuit la ascendenta fascismului in Italia si a nazismului in Germania.
La 11.11.1918 la ora 05:00 s-a semnat actul de armistitiu si astfel razboiul a luat sfarsit.
