From what we done during the non fiction unit and the novel, I learned that every form has a purpose. I could see that fiction novels are based on abstract ideas that were re-imagined into fictional events that lead to a result chosen by the author. This is really helpful especially that the "perfect" scenario can be achieved by previous events in the story. On the other hand, the non fiction form is based of how the author looks at a real life event. Most of the evidence that are brought up support the author's perspective which resembles his/her side of the story. I also learned that fiction novels follow archetypal symbols to set up a scene, whereas non fiction articles focus on facts and statistics in depth. When I am reading fiction novel, I usually have to set in a quiet place so I can have an opportunity to imagine the events and the settings. However, with non-fiction article, making notes while reading through the article was the best strategy to remember the facts and statistics for future discussions. Personally, I used to hate fiction novels mainly because I did not focus on archetypes, but after learning about archetypes in class, I started to enjoy reading fiction novels.
