Research problems that your customers have. Seeing things from the perspective of your customer will expose their problems and help you validate the solutions you present.
Create a high level vision of the solution you want to present. What problems will it solve? Who will use the solution? How is it different from other solutions in the market?
Break your solution down into small tasks that need to be completed. Write these on sticky notes and place them on your wall into Waiting, Doing and Finished columns. Make them small so it only takes 1–2 days to deliver on the task. Bit by bit you will see your solution take shape.
Get to a point where you can develop your solution and talk to other people you meet in your day to day activities. Ask them what they think and if it would be something they would pay for. You are not trying to sell them during the conversation, but only trying to get a judge on their interest. Your solution can be as simple as sketches on paper or a presentation using Google docs.
Document the feedback and create more tasks that will get you to the final state. If you get stuck, look for meetups or free networking events in your area where you can as advice from others. Most cities have some level of startup support. Check with your local chamber of commerce, library or city hall. Also, Google is always your friend!
