Pengertian: adalah pengumpulan efek-efek (akibat) tindakan/perilaku dari kehidupan yang lampau dan yang menentukan nasib saat ini.
Penyebutan Karma
• Karma dalam dalam penulisan bahasa sanskerta: कर्म
• Karman ; "bertindak, tindakan, kinerja"
• Dalam Bahasa Pali disebut kamma
Karma merupakan konsep 'aksi' atau 'perbuatan', yang dalam agama Hindu dipahami sebagai sesuatu yang menyebabkan seluruh siklus kausalitas yaitu, siklus yang disebut 'samsara'. Konsep siklus ini berasal dari India kuno dan dijaga kelestariannya di filsafat Hindu, Jain, Sikh dan Buddhisme. Dalam konsep 'karma', semua yang dialami manusia adalah hasil dari tindakan kehidupan masa lalu dan sekarang.
Efek
Efek karma dari semua perbuatan itu dipandang sebagai aktif membentuk masa lalu, sekarang, dan pengalaman masa depan.
• Karmaphala adalah sebutan dari Hasil atau 'buah' dari tindakan karma.
• Karma berkaitan erat dengan kelahiran kembali (reinkarnasi). "
Segala tindakan/perilaku/sikap baik maupun buruk seseorang saat ini juga akan membentuk karma seseorang di kehidupan berikutnya.
