We recommend using GzipCompressorInputStream in the Apache Commons Compress Library to decompress your gzip output files. Set the second parameter on the constructor to true. This specifies that the gzip file may contain multiple files (boolean decompressConcatenated).
GzipCompressorInputStream decompression works with the Read Line and End of Stream Asynchronous access methods. The Read to End access method will work but will retain the source file’s line formatting codes, such as line feeds. The Peek access method cannot be relied upon for concatenated gzip files.
The following examples are implemented with the try-with-resources method for succinctness. Always close open streams and check for errors when applicable.
