Bread, cereal, and rice are a large part of my daily consumption. The process of making them requires a lot of water. For bread alone, water is necessary for yeast fermentation and reproduction. The softer the dough is, the faster it will ferment - thanks to water. Water plays a big part in making bread, cereal or rice, from the farming stage, to the industrial transformation stage. Lots of water is utilized to reproduce grains in the farm and more is used to transform it into the rice, bread, and cereal that we have in our kitchens.
The whole process of making food requires a lot of water. But some food that we consume has better water footprint than others. According to classoffood.com, “An essential element of many recipes is water, the importance of which is very often overlooked. A bread dough is roughly 40% water.” (Water). Similarly to bread, cereal and rice also require around the same percentage of water. To help lower our footprint on water, I believe environmentally friendly food should be a great choice. Every food that we consume required lot of water, but some are better than the other ones. Most vegetables and fruits are proven to be more environmentally friendly than other types of food by different labs around the world. So my best substitutes for bread, rice, and cereal will be amaranth, potatoes, and oranges respectively. Compare to bread, Amaranth requires little water and can grow in any soil conditions. Potatoes compare to rice, according to onegreenplanet.com “consume 50 gallons of water” (green planet). And oranges tested by different labs require around 55 gallons of water which is very low compared to cereal.
By consuming more ecologically, I am actively reducing my water footprint. I will definitely switch my diet and substitute bread, rice, and cereal with potatoes, orange, and amaranth.

Second Article:
Steak is one of my favorite foods. Most steak has been processed in cattle farms. Cattle farming is one of the most water-consuming sub-industries in the food industry. In cattle farms, the whole process requires a lot of water. Since water crises around the world are looming, there are alternatives that I can adopt to help my daily water consumption - one of which is reducing my steak consumption.
Cattle farms, just like other living stock, are heavy water users, from steak to dairy products. According to huffpost.com “Agriculture production account for 92 percent of our water footprint. In the US, meat consumption alone accounts for a whopping 30 percent of our water footprint” (environment). That means that steak requires a lot of water from the farming stage to the plate. By substituting steak with lentils, I can actively lower my water footprint. Lentils are very environmentally friendly and they save a lot on water consumption. Lentils are a better substitute for steak and I can use them for most of my dishes that require meat. Lentils can be used as ground beef for burgers and can be used to make regular steak. Lentils are eco-friendly and are rich in protein for nutrition. The process of lentils production requires less water compared to many other living processes.
I will definitely switch steak with lentils to lower my water consumption. With lentils, I am not impacting my lifestyle and I can still have a steak that tastes the same but made more eco-friendly.

Article 3:

Like most people in the developing world, I use a lot of water every day by showering, cooking, eating, cleaning and more. I also believe that some of the activities and habits that I am doing can help lower my water use daily. Water crises are real, and I can help by changing some bad habits of mine.
Wasting water in a household is simple, and one of the easier and common ways to waste water are leaks around the house. Searching for leaks is one way I planned to start. Studies found out that 20 gallons of water are lost every day on leaks in a single house. To prevent that problem, I will need to insulate all bad pipes, check toilet leaks, and check my faucets. Eating less water-consuming food also helps because food consumes lots of water. Changing drinking habits like throwing away half-empty water bottles will help - instead, we can put them in the fridge for future use. Minimizing the use of kitchen sink,
and making sure that the water in the bathrooms is not left on when not in use are also essential. Also, if possible, water reuse helps a lot. Changing the small habits in my household will help lower my water footprint daily in my house.
I believe by changing all those habits and living in a more eco-friendly manner, I will help to reduce my daily water consumption and conserve water for the good of humanity.
