Angéle de la Barthe dituduh berhubungan dengan iblis dan hal supranatural lain yang saat itu ditentang keras, bahkan sampai melahirkan seorang anak berupa monster pemakan bayi. Gambaran anaknya punya kepala serigala dan kaki seperti ular dan Angéle de la Barthe menggali kuburan bayi atau membunuhnya agar dapat memberi makan monster itu. Dikabarkan dia mengaku sudah memberi monster kecil itu makanan berupa bayi selama 2 tahun lamanya. Akhirnya, dia dinyatakan bersalah dan dibakar hidup-hidup.
