British indie outfit Blaenavon's first studio album "That's Your Lot" is one of the most haunting and creatively sound alternative records of recent years, spearheaded by a deep, dark emotional core and propped up by big, bold exclamations of instrumentation that formulate this to be one of the most sonically epic and intense listens of the half-decade.
Mixing twill indie, Sufjan Stevens inspired production with slamming, boundless guitar and drums, this record is moody and erratic to say the least, and provides a bold, emotion-packed exasperation of youth, which is as gloriously overwhelming as it is harrowing. Coming in at an hour long, it's safe to say that this record is no quick listening job; yet the constant change in moods, from the relatively upbeat and smooth 'Let's Pray' and 'Lonely Side' to the hollow 'Let Me See What Happens Next', as an example, gives this album an undecided, blundering feel that's compensated by constant beautiful guitar solos and jarring, distress inducing riffs.
