Elvy gave his friends his last handshakes and goodbyes before he practically ran over to the spot Brendon usually took a seat.
''Holy shit, dude'' Elvy began to speak before he shook his head. He waved at the sides of his face as he began to speak. Brendon seemed confused as to why Elvy looked like a fangirl that came from a concert. Elvy tried to remain calm, so he didn't squeal anything unnecessarily loudly.
''Royce has gone fucking insane... like he's lost it. I swear, he looks so dead. At the same time, there is so much hate in his eyes that it's almost hot. He looks all dangerous and mysterious now. Well, everybody knows what happened. Why do I find angry looking dudes hot? I have issues. Why do I find anger hot?'' Elvy rambled, laughing at his last questions. Sometimes, Brendon found Elvy to be quite unempathetic. Some people were born with empathy, and Elvy wasn't one of them. Elvy wasn't the best with advice either, aside from 'fuck him at a party' or 'suck his dick as soon as you get the chance'. The best one being 'fuck his best friend'. Brendon had given up asking for advice, at that point.
Elvy, unaware of Brendon's actual feelings, kept quiet as he took Brendon's ice tea and took a sip of it. Patiently waiting for Brendon's reaction. He was quite amused by his unexpected reaction, though.
''Don't you think it has gone too far?'' Brendon asked, thinking ethically and thinking he was a bit guilty. Brendon didn't feel the guilt in his body, as he couldn't care enough. Brendon hated everybody, but he had seen Royce a few times. He could see things in his eyes that people saw in his own eyes. Pain. It made Brendon question whether he should interfere or not. It had gone on for quite a long time. No one was doing anything. Brendon couldn't seem to catch Royce's friends to be there with him either. Was he lonely and suffering? He had a bad feeling about Royce's health. A really bad feeling.
''Nah, he'll get a therapist or whatever,'' Elvy replied, waving it off as if it were nothing. Brendon was more annoyed by the fact that Elvy took his ice tea, but also slightly irritated by how nonchalant he could be. He shrugged his shoulders and chugged the last of Brendon's ice tea. Great, that's what best friends did. Elvy found Brendon annoying and vice versa.
''How can you talk about Royce being found passed out a party, having a breakdown at a party, yelling at friends and shit so lightly?'' Brendon sincerely questioned. To Brendon, this didn't seem like a fourteen-year girl drama. Royce was genuinely getting worse by the week, and it didn't help that Royce accidentally left his rant user public and wrote how his issues don't matter and that people had it worse. Well, Elvy had been thrown off the account as Royce realized he had left it open a few days later. He changed it to private and removed every single follower. Man, Brendon was somewhat worried. Elvy always sent screenshots, and they were bad.
Elvy could also hear the worry in Brendon's voice. This was unusual, though. As he had thought about earlier, Brendon hated absolutely everyone. Elvy would never have guessed that he had it in him to care for someone else than Elvy himself.
''Hey, he probably wants to be alone to deal with his issues. We can't interfere. He has the strength to fuck us up, in one second. Let's just calm down and let him deal with his issues on his own. Everybody has to. Right? He might be talking to his friends about his problems. What do we know?'' Elvy shrugged it for the second time. Elvy didn't really care, it was all fun to him. Elvy didn't bother to stick his nose into others' business. Except when it was gossip and rumors.
The only reason Elvy gossiped with Brendon was that Brendon hated everybody. He loved cringing and rolling his eyes at everybody. So, of course, it was fun. This last month, though, Brendon had dismissed him whenever he spoke about Royce and his issues. Brendon had gotten defensive over Royce, and absentmindedly taken his side instead of Elvy's. Elvy didn't take Royce's issues seriously. Like, come on. Why should he care about a random dude? Elvy looked at Brendon to catch his reaction to his previous statement. If Elvy were Brendon, he would nod and shrug. Nope
Brendon furrowed his eyebrows and shook his head in disbelief. It baffled him how his best friend could be so blind and cynic. Brendon recognized pain when he saw it, and Royce was full of it. Brendon had secretly, absentmindedly watched Royce for a longer time period. He watched Royce, and he had secretly hoped he was walking in the direction of the school nurses. Nope, he always walked into the gymnasium. Every time Brendon caught him in the hallways, his direction was either the bathroom or the gymnasium to ruin himself. Brendon wanted to cuss at himself for having the urge to go after Royce and at least talk to him or tell him where the school nurse was. Brendon was awkward as hell socially, especially because he had decided to hate on Royce before the whole breakup incident. Oh man, the entire situation was fucked up. Elvy did have one point. Royce could be getting help from his friends, but if he did, why would he remain fucked for weeks? Brendon released a sigh and decided on not interfering. Just, it wasn't his business. Even if he had witnessed the evolution of Royce's mental breakdown for weeks.
Elvy had, too. It wasn't enough just knowing it all about everybody. (he had his sources). Elvy had witnessed how Royce could go from having dark circles under his eyes from sleeping a few hours. Then, Royce would remain seated in his classroom during his breaks. He'd just sit there alone and listen to music. It was so unlike the guy to choose loneliness. Yet, Elvy didn't want himself or Brendon to interfere. If Royce was that fucked, they really shouldn't be near him in the first place. Besides, he didn't get the big deal. Why should they care? Yeah, it's sad and crazy and all, but none of their business. Elvy certainly couldn't feel bad.
