Then you had the blond, fragile-looking boy, Brendon Carter. His life story could be made into a novel, in which unfortunate accidents, events, fights, and the pain was scattered across his childhood, adolescence and young adulthood. However, it didn't stop the blond from making people laugh. Although the darkness had covered the bright blues in his eyes, he still had the ability to entertain and support his closest friends. He never asked for pity, and he rarely needed to heal himself. His schooldays and everyday life were usually the same. Yet, this one was one percent different:

Brendon usually walked alone with his music in his ears. His songs varying from Dennis Lloyd, Bon Iver, Brennan Savage, to EDEN. The genre didn't really matter much, it was how the lyrics struck him and how relatable it was.

As he entered the school, the era felt tense. People looked hurriedly at him before almost looking disappointed and continuing doing their business. Well, Brendon was filled with self-hatred so being a disappointment wasn't something new to him. He shrugged off the new, tense, air and looked for his only friend. He was quite different from him, but he couldn't get Elvy off his back so he was stuck with him. Elvy was like headlice. He wouldn't leave. Brendon eventually found himself latching onto Elvy as well. It was as if Brendon didn't have to walk his further, because Elvy just had to yell out 'DAD' and run over to him. Of course, everybody had to look weirdly at Elvy.

Elvy grinned excitedly as he walked with Brendon towards their classroom. Elvy was always cheerful. His energy would always spark others. Brendon watched as everybody he hated smiled and high-fived Elvy. Everyone adored Elvy for his bursting energy. Even his teachers joked around with the guy. Brendon didn't complain, it did give him some privileges.

Classes were boring, except philosophy. Philosophy was like a self-healing hour in which he got to wash his depression with deep thoughts and reflections. It was as if his self-hatred was tackled and beaten up by philosophy. As soon as it was over, all of the students clung their backpacks around their shoulders and onto their backs and escaped the classroom. The clock struck 12:03 am and every soul had already gotten out of the classroom within five minutes.

Casually walking out the classroom, and Brendon was on his way to the big cafeteria they had. Walls painted a shade of yellow, white tiles on the floor, black and white striped canvases across the walls. The art class did a good job of redecorating the cafeteria. Because of them, their school got cheap benches and white fluffy pillows in this corner. The cool corner, naturally.

Brendon took a seat on one of the casual looking tables. The white, circular table too tall for his liking. Elvy followed close by, taking a seat on the opposite side of the blond. He looked quite intrigued by something. His eyes were big, and he seemed shocked. Huh, new gossip this week.

''Bro, have you heard of the Hayes and Royce breakup?'' His mate, Elvy Miller asked.

Brendon looked over, quite unbothered. Nonetheless, he still made an effort to pretend as if he cared. ''Must be tough on the guys.'' Brendon shrugged and chuckled. He was thankful for not ever being involved in stupid relationship dramas. He found it hilarious whenever people broke up after two weeks of an unsuccessful relationship. Brendon reckoned people weren't mature enough to understand the basic qualifications you needed to enter a relationship. Yet, a small part of him was envious of the people who were able to create a relationship. Receiving and giving love and shit.

''Are you even listening?'' Elvy's voice broke through his chain of thoughts. Brendon barely jumped and calmed his cautious, quickening heartbeat.

''Yeah'' Brendon lied and basically made Elvy roll his eyes.

''Don't turn around, but I just saw Royce barely eating an apple alone and he's about to leave somewhere. He looks ruined, man.'' Elvy gossiped lowly, raising his juice box and taking a sip. Elvy hissed when he saw Brendon's first reaction. Brendon turned around to watch Royce. Elvy was aware Brendon sucked at instructions. Whether it was slicing bread, color spraying hair, using a microwave, or to look in the right direction. Brendon turned back around and shrugged. He wasn't the only one looking at Royce anyway. Royce had dark brown hair, a hazelnut shade, he was not very tan but not very pale either, he

''You're the dumbest, smartest guy I've ever met'' Elvy sighed and rolled his eyes for the umpteenth time today. Elvy wondered how Brendon could solve people's problems, but not toast bread correctly. Only Brendon things, man. Only Brendon.

''It's a shame heartbreak ruined his looks just a bit,'' Brendon said nonchalantly. I mean, he found many guys attractive at his school. It wasn't as if as his cock twitched for them, but he had a nice taste in guys' looks. Elvy enjoyed the gossip, so he enjoyed talking about guys as well.

''I know, he has darker circles now, and his hair is ruffled and fucked'' Elvy dramatically stated. Of course, Elvy noticed these details. Elvy was gay as hell, and everybody knew it.

''Why the hell does Hayes look so damn happy?'' Elvy suddenly spoke, furrowing his eyebrows as he glanced over at Hayes who high fived his buddies and smiled widely at them. The fuck? Brendon thought. Immature kids who couldn't understand what love was about. Royce looked sincerely heartbroken though. Ugh, poor Royce. Well, he'll get over it within a week.

''I'm glad Royce left without having to witness, that...'' Brendon said and looked a bit sympathetically at Elvy. Elvy only furrowed his eyebrows and cocked his head to the side.

''Since when did you care?'' Elvy curiously asked, raising one eyebrow in surprise and curiosity. Suddenly, Brendon's face dropped into his usual one. His eyes smaller, his lips straight, his eyebrows in their natural place, hands at his sides before he almost coldly replied

''I don't.''
