Swedish massage is the "classic" technique of rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. Myofascial release (MFR) is a very effective hands-on therapy that has been used successfully for over a hundred years to treat chronic pain. MFR is performed directly on skin without oils, creams or machinery. This enables the therapist to accurately detect fascial restrictions and apply the appropriate amount of sustained pressure to facilitate release of the fascia.
