▪ Bila kita memperpanjang garis ke bebagai arah, kita akan menemukan beberapa bintang. Contohnya :
- Barat daya : Bintang Sirius (α Canis Majoris)
- Timur laut : Aldebaran (α Tauri)
- Timur : Procyon (α Canis Minoris).
▪ Lalu suatu garis dari Rigel bila diperpanjang melalui Betelgeuse akan mengarah ke Castor dan Pollux (α dan β Geminorum).
