Introduction: Upon hearing news that his father's good friend from college, George Wilson has died, Anthony Walton takes a trip to Ash Valley New York to attend the funeral, something his father would want him to do. The police never pursued Gatsby’s killer, since they were preoccupied dealing with Meyer Wolfsheim and his gang. Claude described Mr. Wilson as a brave man, willing to help anyone despite their background. Following Mr. Wilson’s funeral, Walton offered his help in running Wilsons auto-shop until Wilson's cousin was able to take over. One hot summer day, a blue coupe comes speeding into the gas station of Wilson’s auto shop. With a swift manner, Tom Buchanan steps out of the coupe frantically looking for someone to put gas in his car.

Tom: Wilson! Get out here, I need you to fill up the tank. Wilson?
(Walton walks out)
Walton: Didn’t ya here the news? Wilson’s dead.
Tom: Ah right. I read he killed himself after his wife died - or wait a minute - it’s just the opposite - his wife died after he killed himself.
(Tom motions to Walton)
Tom: What are you waiting for? It’s not gonna fill up itself.
(Walton walks over to Tom’s car to fill his tank)
Walton: Did ya know him?
Tom: Wilson? Wilson and I go way back. I was going to sell him my car before he died.
Tom: I’m surprised Wilson left this place to one of you.
Walton: What’s that supposed to mean?
