Afşar Timuçin genelde şiirleriyle tanınır ama bence Türkiye'nin en iyi felsefecilerdendir. Özellikle Estetik konusunda pek çok kitap yazmıştır. Felsefede ise 50'yi aşkın eseri bulunuyor, belki daha fazla. Felsefeye yeni başlayanlar için (ismine aldanmayın tabii) ''Gençler İçin Felsefe Tarihi'' kitabını önerebilirim. Bu kitap genel hatlarıyla felsefenin başlangıcından günümüze olan serüvenini okuyabileceğiniz Türkçe yazılmış en sade ama aynı zamanda bu basitlikte yazılmış en dolu felsefe tarihi kitabıdır. Bu kitaptan sonra daha yoğun ve geniş bir kaynak kitap için: Ahmet Cevizci'nin Thales'ten Baudrillard'a Felsefe Tarihi kitabını önerebilirim. Bu da yetmezse Ahmet Arslan'ın 5 citlik Felsefe Tarihi kitabı var. Peki bunları okuduk, oldu mu? Hayır olmadı. Felsefe öğrenmek için felsefe tarihi kitaplarını okumak elbette elzem ama asıl önemli olan bu tarih içinde filozofların düşünce çeşitliliğinin üzerinde düşünmek, bu düşünceleri kendi zihnimizde tekrar gözden geçirmek, yani okumakla kalmayıp zihnimizi de bu düşünme eylemine katmak. Bu sağlanmazsa sanki ezberden öteye gidemeyiz gibi geliyor.
