Dibangun oleh Ratu Artemisia sbg bentuk cintanya (bentuk penghormatan) thd Raja Mausolus suaminya. Sayangnya Ratu wafat 2 th stlh Sang Raja krn terlalu sedih.
Nama Mausolus menjadi asal usul nama Mausoleum (makam yg sangat megah). Mausoleum ini masuk dlm 7 keajaiban dunia. Namun skrg tinggal reruntuhan akibat gempa pada abad ke-13.
