In the film Bran Nue Dae we are presented with a musical by Jimmey Chi and directed by Rachel Perkins. The film is about a 16 year old boy who lives in the town Broome and has a normal life. William Johnson's mother wants him to become a priest so she sends him back to the religious mission for further schooling to Father Benedictus. Willie does not want to become a priest so he runs away and spends the night on the streets of Perth where he meets his Uncle Tadpole. Uncle Tadpole helps Willie get back to Broome. There are a lot of obstacles Willie faces before arriving at Broome and finding out that he was accompanied by his father all along, Uncle Tadpole.

Willie runs away from boarding school because he does not want to become a priest. On the streets of Perth Willie is met with Uncle Tadpole. Uncle Tadpole tells Willie he will help him get back to Broome. Willie sings "There's nothing wrong with being an aborigine.", he is singing about how he or any other aboriginal person is not an abomination because Father Benedictus tells him he is an abomination. After Willie runs away Father Benedict follows him to track him down.Accompanied by Uncle Tadpole and the 2 hippies they hitch the ride to Broome.

Willie doesn't want to return to Broome and tell his mother, Theresa, because he knows it'll break her heart. His mother wanted Willie to be a priest and had faith in him, even though Willie does not want to become a priest. His mother is a very religious person.
