Pada dasarnya Scourgify adalah Charm pembersih. Sementara Evanesco adalah Vanisment — menghilangkan, yang termasuk dalam cabang Transfigurasi.
Cabang ini ber-efek hingga ke tingkat terkecil, yaitu molekul. Jadi Evanesco menghilangkan hingga ke molekul benda tersebut, yang berarti menjadi ketiadaan.

Evanesco biasanya digunakan jika ada percobaan ramuan yang gagal.
