Theme: "Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate." Even in a world without free will, one must strive to break away from fatalism in order to truly create free will, of a sort. Generational free will. What happens now is for the benefit of the future. You have broken the cycle, and broken away from what you thought you were destined to do. Able to harness your powers. Able to awake to the real world.

Will wants to spend his life going against the Jungian outlook of

Will and Cybil need to crash their car, but they need to do it when they're sleeping, so they need to take enough sleeping pills to make them fall asleep at the wheel. They crash into Terry's Workshop, the headquarters of a wildly-inappropriate schizophrenic man named Terry, with a consciousness more machine than man. He has created crude neural machines to outsource his brain power to. For instance, he will have a radio playing a loop of a song in order to function as the "song stuck in the back of my fuckin' head" and another radio playing white noise to let his brain have a release valve undercurrent, a blank canvas to travel dreams on. He broadcasts on a large screen the camera feed from the tiny cameras next to his eyes. That way, he is able to outsource optical input into his computer in real time, and free up his brain to explore itself instead of being cluttered with optical input. He sits at a desk and closes his eyes, typing questions to his computer, stream of consciousness-like abstract questions, and with every touch of the space bar the computer responds - one random word generated per click as some sort of oracle pseudo-AI. Pulling from and scrying every mystical text. Very dada. Sometimes humorous. But it helps Terry receive answers from a kind of force, he usually responds with explicit cursing and the immediate rebuttal of another question or complete non-sequiter. This is just his way of exploring consciousness, depicting dream worlds to his machines, keeping accurate records. He is a technological psychenaut. He also has recently created a machine for vibrating matter from lower frequencies, bringing them to Terry's base frequency in the true reality. He has brought Jeff and Cybil's father through into his workshop, and they are sitting there waiting to go back in and repeat their cycle. It's how Long Jeffrey and the Static Man were created, as Jeff came to Terry in death while Abbas Lander was random. Jeff was only able to return organically, and Abbas the complete opposite. It was unknown the consequences of sending life forms back through the vibration sequence. Apparently the vibrational forces were enough to bring Abbas back as a scrambled light, and he initiates the birth of the Long Jeffrey rabbit instinctually. At the exact moment that Terry sends Abbas back, Toroid Bill is crashing through the wall from the 3rd density reality to the 2nd density where Will and Cybil reside. At the same time, Toroid Bill, completing his time in the 2nd density and chasing Will and Cybil to their deaths, crashes and wakes up in prison again.

Toroid Bull Tennyson

The man with the cast-iron brain

The chain-smoking, zoot-suit wearing skeleton of an Old Hollywood movie star is allowed a brief reprieve from Hell to collect souls for an extension on his contract with Satan. In order to amass a big enough audience, he has to reconcile his old, outdated, and corny routines with the new forms of entertainment that have taken over since his absence.
After 100 years in Hell, Old Hollywood movie star Dean Clifton has settled into a rut hosting the Underworld's consistently lowest rated late-night show - until Satan informs him that his contract is up, and his show is set to be cancelled to bring in a hot-shot Millennial to appeal to a wider audience.
Citing his undying need to entertain others, he uses his charm to strike a deal with Satan. He will travel to the mortal plane to collect souls through the one thing he knows best - show business.
He decides to use his incredibly outdated talents to become a rising star, to varied results. Busking on the streets with slapstick Charlie Chaplinesque comedy, hosting a local public access television show demonstrating his corny dance and comedy routines, and finally trying to conquer the culture of viral media and internet celebrities.
Dean Clifton must become a star, again, or die trying.
working title: A STAR IS BORN
What do you guys think? Funny concept? Does it work? I'm imagining it as a walk through the different eras of entertainment through this Dean Clifton character, all while the absurdity of a skeleton-man performing for people is playing out. Hoping to conclude it with a change of heart for Dean, coming to realize that he enjoys his newfound fame on Earth, and doesn't want to sacrifice the audience that he worked hard to please. The audience would actually enjoy his old-timey act, after he gives up attempting to be someone he is not and just resorts to the tried-and-true methods. I don't know how it would end, but possibly in a dark turn he could still harvest the audience's souls, and return to his late-night show in the Underworld with the highest viewing numbers ever, thus delaying the take-over of the hot-shot Millennial host by another 100 years. Highlighting the timelessness of this entertainment and the ephemeral quality of viral media.

Poke holes in the world-building of my screenplay.

In the real world, a massive consumer culture centered around a type of skewed nostalgia for a time gone past has produced a sustained thoughtform, a dream world inhabited by constructs of the human mind. Within this thoughtform, our story begins.

An alternate version of the 1980s, where a Jungian culture has shaped the youth and society into hyper-vigilant synchronicity trackers, monitoring their surroundings, scrying their dreams, and analyzing all information on an esoteric level to discern meaning and the nature of their reality.

The Tracy Milligram Show

In a society that values the significance of strange synchronicities over concrete facts, and the tenets of chance encounters over solid-built relationships, a young man is beginning to learn the ideals of pragmatism, science, and free will.

Opening Image : 1
A rabbit being swallowed by the earth, a man hunting crows, and a static figure.
Theme Stated : 5
Synchronicities do not allow for Free Will in this world. Will believes he must break out of this world to find free will, but what Will must learn that Free Will is not important to get.
In a world where everyone pays attention to synchronicities, meditation, and zen koans, a young man is finding pragmatism and free will.
The Set Up: 1 to 10
Will meets Cybil, Jeff goes to the sewer, they're all assigned homework on channel 83. The party, the stakes.
The Catalyst: 12
A signal is sent through time, to channel 83. To reveal to them the nature of their world.

Final Image: 110
A rabbit running through the woods.

When Jeff disappears the night of the party, he is taken to Terry's Workshop. He decides to take the ride back, which is incredibly risky. He does it anyway and become the rabbit that saves the protagonists from doom.

Will says that a human is more human without zen. He thinks zen is too passive, and that humans can unleash their true potential without zen. He thinks the ability to blow his own life up every few years is what will grant him the grace of sanity through the years.

Birdie sits in a buoyant leather chair, drowning in a blue terrycloth bath robe. An episode of Outer Limits is on the television and a fire roars at her left. Her feet finding a place on the table among the empty beer cans. She is drifting into sleep, when...

Her broken phone vibrates on the table, light peeking through the shattered screen. Likely broken on one of her nightly benders. She drags her finger over where the answer button should be, and says "Hello?"...The shot slowly creeps closer to the broken phone, an ominous drone building. CUT TO:

Birdie slams the sliding door, entering her backyard still wrapped in her robe. She angrily walks across the yard to a small shed.

Inside, she searches for a VHS tape among shelves of tapes. Upon entering it into the TV/VCR combo, she steps back and removes her robe, revealing lingerie.

A band begins playing on the television as Birdie smashes bottles into the wall and screams.

A wooden paddle nailed to the wall lists various girls names, Vanessa, Sophia, Marie, Cybil, etc. all of them scratched out with knife gashes. The most current name, at the bottom of the list, is BIRDIE. She rips a knife through this name as well, and begins to stumble around delirious. She looks into a car's rear view mirror, mounted to the wooden wall, staring into her own mascara smeared eyes as the bass frequencies vibrate the mirror to the beat. She falls to the ground into piles of broken bottles as the windows light up with images and lights are projected onto her and the tape of the band becomes extra strange, the band member's faces distorted and wearing odd bird masks and shit like that. As the song winds down, a pale figure watching Birdie through the window seems satisfied, and applies a layer of lipstick to their top lip.

Birdie wakes up in the living room with a top-lip-only kiss mark on her cheek and Dennis Miller on the television. She scowls an insult and ends the music video with her remote control.

The chain-smoking, zoot-suit wearing skeleton of an Old Hollywood movie star is sent from Hell to gather souls for an extension on his 100 year contract with Satan. He works around the clock, using a slot on his local public access television channel, miming shitty old dance routines to get famous and gradually kill the minuscule viewing audience. Running low on time and receiving too low of an audience through the older means of entertainment, he tries to find other ways to gain popularity and become a celebrity - all in an effort to air a live broadcast that can attract a large enough crowd to save his soul from annihilation.

Rasmus should have a boring hole machine outside in the back that he operates with gasoline. He doesn't know why it's on the property but he runs it incessantly.

The tunnel the tube the light the wheel - the water wheel spokes carrying films of reality, a VHS tapes spoke rolling through Will's head as him and Cybil die in a car crash. The whole toroid Bill thing is he is a wheel, he's mastered the wheel, he's come from the lowest dimension down, nine times removed from theirs. He has crashed his truck and killed himself to get to where he is. His truck is totally mangled and destroyed. The speed ticker is bent showing a much lower speed. He is born as a trucker recently released from prison using his hell truck to get to the kids and stop Will from creating the tape and escaping into the physical world and meeting Terry.

One-Eyed Monster
We have an idol in our home
with one great glaring eye,
He occupies the foremost place
and I will tell you why.
We sacrifice to him our time
because he’ll entertain
And to our bulging eyes display
all of life’s sorry train
Of vice, and crime, and viciousness,
or horror, shame, and sin.
(We’ve wasted many precious hours
since we have let him in.)
For now he dominates our home,
for God we have no time,
Our eyes are dimmed by gunsmoke and
our mind is filled with crime.
“I bring into your living room
bartender, harlot, thief,
And from the sick commercials
I give you no relief.
“I brainwash children, and prepare
their minds by what they hear;
I make attractive: violence,
sin, cigarettes, and beer.
“You speak of young delinquents and
deplore their evil deeds
While I continue merrily
to sow the vicious seeds.
“The cheating wife, or husband,
is the accepted thing,
We’re living in a ‘modern’ world,
Go to it, have your fling!
“Away with outworn ‘standards’,
our day is modernized,
There’s no such thing as right or wrong,
for sin is glamorized.
“I set the world’s criteria;
I am the household god.
(If you protest against me,
you’re a puritanic clod!)
“I am the one that rules your home,
from God I turn your heart,
I fill your mind with banal trash
by foul hypnotic art.”
Once family altars occupied
the place where we now see
The glaring eye of Cyclops,
though now he’s called ‘TV’.”
