لازم هست بدانیم که خز پوششی توله ها، با حیوانات بالغ کاملا متفاوت هست. توله ها با یک پوشش و خز تک لایه و نرم کرک مانند متولد می شوند.

به طور معمول این جایگزینی خز در ماه های 4 تا 6 اتفاق می افتد که البته در بین نژادهای مختلف بسیار متفاوت است. بنابراین در این سنین ممکن است شاهد ریزش زیاد مو در حیوانات باشیم.
ظاهر نژادها در زمان این جایگزینی خز ممکن است خیلی خوش آیند به نظر نیاید ولی با برس کشیدن اصولی و مراقبت های روزانه این روند کامل شده و خز اصلی و دائمی جایگزین خواهد شد.
