Jungle computing group task –
Collaborative
- Tight time scales
- Lack of engaging team members
- Lack of understating from what was required
- All new first year,
Despite thorough research through the tools available, there was very little information based on the subject given. Speaking to specialist groups, reviewing existing information, lead us to come up with a definition of what Jungle computing as well as it’s impact and place in the IT industry.
Organised regular group meetings established grounds of communication and made sure to involve every member to allow everyone to offer contribution to investigate the subject further, delegated roles and tasks and was proactive on involving all individuals ensuring everyone was on common ground. As we were all new to the process, being in first year some members weren’t as active or outgoing, I took on the responsibility of making sure that they were heard.
I played to my strengths, of being collaborative and communicated with them all individually, making contribution to the task efficient.
Innovative -
Whilst working at the record studio, I had the duty of filing documents, these however were old and redundant. So, I organised and stored each one in a computerized library system.
Enthusiastic –
Whilst preparing for University, I knew it would be beneficial for me to have a personal computer that I could use whilst living away from home. Rather than having a prebuilt PC shipped to me, I decided I wanted to learn the ins and outs of the computer system myself, which prompted me to go online and research; finding out the components of the system, their roles and function. Knowing that my computer science course would be programming orientated, I compared the system requirements of software that would be used against the specifications of the components before having them sent over. After watching various tutorials I was then able to assemble the computer system, having done tests and taking nessercary prequations - such as grounding.
Determination –
Whilst studying in 6th form I also took it upon myself to improve my physical health.Conviently there was a Gym near by to the college and I was able to make a habit of going frequently in the afternoon with friends. At first I found the experience daunting, having to change dietery habits and learning how to operate the machines properly, but gradualy over time it became something I looked forward to; eventually I was able to move on to doing more demanding exercises.
Another quality – Whilst at University, one of my modules was heavily based on the normalization of databases. At first, I had trouble understanding the concepts as algorithms were introduced, so in order to gain a better understanding of them, I had created my own databases and applied the rules introduced and was successfully use what I had learnt to complete the assignment and create a formal report on my findings and reasoning behind my methods. To validate my findings, I found it was necessary to articulate my ideas to the a module leader as taking in their input gave me the idea to approach the assignment differently.
During my degree, I was involved in a group task in which we had to ____
Whilst we had the ability to x, we were struggling with Y, If we did x y z, it would come to the end product of the solution – did research, came up with some examples of tackling the problem…
through collaboration
I am innovative and resourceful,
S situation

A ction taken
Result
What I expect to gain:
Acquire adept knowledge and familiarity in the structure of computer systems
Gain experience in working in the IT enviroment
learn to work under strict company policy and guidelines
Improve analytic
Hobbies and Interests -
One of my interests include watching MMA, I'm subscribed to various channels to keep up to the latest news and monitor fighters both in and outside of the octogon. During my study at University, I ended up joining an amatuer MMA club, I was able to meet people with similar intrests that I resonated with and began to attend frequently, before signing up for a full membership. Learning self defence techniques through sparring and participating in the fitness sessions helped me gain a deeper understanding of what the athletes who engage in the sport go through, which gave me a greater appreciation for MMA as a whole.
