I’m a fan of Rufus for 9 years and I was waiting for this day. When he was promoting Songs For Lulu and was going to play in Warsaw, I bought tickets and I was the most excited person in the world, but… concert was cancelled and I was devastated. Every day from that day I was losing my hope that I will ever see him. And this year I didn’t had any plans to go to Warsaw because I was scared they will cancel it again and because of the money (Warsaw is too far), so the news that he was going to play in Wroclaw was like a miracle, of course I bought tickets and I went with my older brother who is listening to Rufus and knows him a little bit more than me. Because of my brother I know Rufus, so I owe him everything. I was sitting on the balcony, on the right side, but not in the first part, just the second one. And what can I say? That he didn’t disappointed me and he’s a magnificent artist and singer. I was really stunned how his voice sounds live. I cried when he was singing Dinner at Eight and Poses. I was moved during many other songs. His voice is huge. Best voice ever. He’s funny, cute and charming and he made me laugh many times (especially when he started to read in polish and when in the end he said that Poses is probably his best song, but actually is hard to choose because there are too many and that story with postcards and Princess Pierogi). His sister is lovely and funny as well. I never heard her before so I was surprised that she have a really amazing voice. After the concert I asked her for an autograph and I asked her if she can greet Rufus from me, that my name is Marta, she said yes xD. Lovely person. I wanted to buy Vibrate because I have every his album, just not this one, but I didn’t had money…
What I can say about the audience… Yeah, first rows had invited people. They didn’t deserved those places… Most of them were older. Anyway, I could see most of the people were a bit older. And I was surprised there were few younger people, younger than me :P. Poland is a very catholic nation so people coming out after singing Gay Messiah didn’t surprised me. Polish people are bunch of homophobes but I thought that if you’re going to see Rufus live then you know he’s Homosexual and you shouldn’t have any problems with it… Also they doesn’t get jokes. I was laughing with brother and I could see other people laughing. But also some of them were looking like robots or stones without any feelings. I liked his jokes, Lucy’s jokes and that he was talking to the people and that he was warm despite the weather outside. I love that he’s such a positive guy. But I’m a big fan and I’m not sure about the others. I was mad that people started to applaud a little bit harder and lauder when he started to sing Hallelujah. I like this song, but I don’t wanna offend Cohen, Rufus has much better songs than Hallelujah. And it’s sad he’s the most known because of this cover. Just like Jeff Buckley. Also it was a shame that a man with a beautiful voice that gave amazing concert and sang songs perfectly didn’t got the standing ovation. I was the ONE, ONLY ONE (but I’m not sure) that gave him that. And I did it twice. When he left the stage for few seconds and when he definitely ended the concert. I could stand there and applaud for 2 hours until my hands would die (anyway, today they’re hurting me and are all red), but we had to leave with brother pretty fast because we had to take the train and back to home (it’s 100km). For me it was the best night in my whole life because finally I could see the most important man and artist in my whole life. But I hope one day he will come back to Poland again, despite the cold audience he had in Wrocław.
